Hygge (Danish Coziness)

January 2 - 28

Curl up with a beautiful handmade mug of tea or bowl of warming soup this winter, and embrace the Danish concept of Hygge. Hygge, the feeling of quiet coziness and contentment, invites us to take time away from our daily rush to be together with people we care about - or even by ourselves - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures. Featuring the Ceramics Guild

Dragon's Breath

February 1 - March 3

“ Having a dragon breathe on my work has its pitfalls, but it affords me unending surprises”. Gareth Mason

Scope will be celebrating the Lunar New Year this month as we welcome in the Year of the Dragon. Unique and varied ceramic pieces from fire-breathing kilns will warm the heart of your special Valentine and help usher out winter's chill as we look forward to Spring. With the Kiln Club

Springing Up

March 4 - 30

Explorations of nature’s rebirth will abound in Scope this month. Celebrate the returning light with locally made ceramics, each as unique and joyful as the new leaves and buds emerging as winter's hold gives way to spring. With the Ceramics Guild.

Earth’s Treasures

April 1 - 28

“The Earth is what we all have in common.” Wendell Berry

Every piece of ceramic work begins and ends with earth. Celebrate Earth Day all month long through the lens of the art form most intimately tied to the planet we call home. From the clay bodies that form each piece to the minerals which provide such a wide variety of colored surfaces, every piece of work is a celebration of Earth. Featuring Kiln Club

Flourishing Forms

April 29 - June 2

Spring is in the air, flowers are flourishing and a legion of voluptuous forms fill the gallery this month to showcase their beauty. Mothers everywhere will be receiving flowers, and what better way to present them to her than in a handcrafted ceramic vase. Featuring Ceramics Guild.

Midsummer Dreams

June 3 - 30

Midsummer approaches and conjures images of magical forests and bonfire-lit nights. Join us this month as the Scope artists bring dreams to life with elaborately textured ceramic vessels, sumptuously glazed tableware and creatures that seem to come to life as you gaze at them. Celebrate the saturated colors of the season from gorgeous sunsets to lush flowers. Featuring the Kiln Club.

Forged in Fire

July 1 - 28

They have been through fire, and what fire does not destroy, it hardens”. Oscar Wilde

Forged in fires both figurative and literal, this month’s work at Scope will celebrate the connection between the passionate flames of the artist’s imagination and the physical flames of the kiln. Ceramic works showcasing a variety of firing techniques including gas, salt, wood, soda, crystalline, electric and raku will be presented, each displaying its own beauty, challenges, and one of a kind surprises. Featuring the Ceramics Guild

Take Flight

July 29 - September 1

Scope artists are taking to the air with birds, bees, butterflies, and more as we rejoice in the joy and freedom of flight in all its forms. Beautifully crafted ceramic vessels and sculptures, often adorned with colorful and whimsical representations of flight, will fill Scope gallery this month. Featuring the Kiln Club

Transitions

September 2 - 29

As summer ends, fall approaches and with it the changing of the leaves, a new school year and a shift from lazy hazy days to industrious preparations for the winter to come. It is a season of transition and juxtaposition. Visit Scope this month for ceramic pieces that will take you seamlessly from warm days to cool nights. Featuring the Kiln Club

Bountiful Harvest

September 30 - November 3

“Fall, with her yeller harvest moon and the hills growin' brown and golden under a sinkin' sun.” - Roy Bean

A bountiful harvest deserves to be shown off with beautiful platters, serving bowls, casserole dishes and plates. Find inspiration for upcoming family gatherings, whether it's the perfect hostess gift for holiday functions or a beautiful centerpiece to bring joy to your everyday table. Featuring the Ceramics Guild

No Place Like Home

November 4 - December 1

As Dorothy discovered in The Wizard of Oz, there really is no place like home, especially for the holidays. Enliven your table with decorative functional serving pieces and sculptural accents from some of the area's most accomplished ceramic artists. Your home and the homes of friends and family deserve handmade treasures for the table, mantle piece or wall to celebrate home. Featuring the Kiln Club

Festivals of Light

December 2 - 29

Bringing light to the darkest days of the year, along with sumptuous tableware and hand crafted ornaments, Scope will feature lanterns, candlesticks, candelabras and other luminaries this holiday season. Whether it is a Hanukkah menorah, a Kwanzza Kinara or candles for your Christmas table, we can help you celebrate the season and light the way to the new year. Scope will share in the season by making a donation from all sales to a local food bank. Featuring the Ceramics Guild
